Story time: My family & I moved to America when I was 12 years old, right as I was about to start high school (I skipped a grade but they for sure messed up because I am NOT book smart). Before my first day, my dad walked me to the bus stop, handed me my book bag and told me to never let anyone stop me from doing something that I believed in. So today, I’m telling you to never let anyone stop you from wearing denim on denim. I don’t know who made that rule because I am all about double denim. When it’s done right, of course. Few things to know: Never wear the same shade of denim on top and bottom. Unless you’re Canadian, in which case, carry on (jk I love Drake). Secondly, try out different textures of denim because it makes a huge difference on your silhouette. These black jeans are super soft & stretchy, and this denim jacket is like card board. This hat was sent to me by a good friend and super dope visual artist, Atif Ateeq who designed these hats as part of his newest project: Halal-Haram. In his own words:… View Post
I still got my money! This red wine bomber has to be the most worn item in my closet. My obsession with jackets & zippers is going to become very apparent as I post more outfits here. This one is definitely my fav though; I love the color, the zippers, and the fabric. It always looks brand new and super crispy. Best thing about having gold accents on your jacket is that it’s super easy to put together accessories. This Casio calculator watch is a super throwback to my childhood, and the bullet shell necklace is from HalfUnited.com – for each necklace sold, 7 meals are provided for children in need. #DoYourHalf Camo pants are tricky, so I like to keep it pretty simple & clean up top. I’ve seen people pair all sorts of crazy stuff with camo, I just prefer to keep it clean so people actually notice what I’m wearing. Bombs away, y’all!
I frigging love America. And seeing as how it’s America’s birthday, it’s only right that I pay homage to the red, white and blue with this quick casual and polished look. I’m a big fan of vests. It’s the easiest way to class up a boring button down shirt. The trick to not look like Aladdin is to always wear them with a collared shirt and dress shoes. Fashion rules state that vests make you look short & stubby, but if you can find a nice horseshoe vest like the one I’m wearing, it actually streamlines your silhouette really nicely. Patterns have always been popular, but this particular one had these really nice deep blue elbow patches which is a great little twist on the boring blue button down. Details will make all the difference, folks. Happy born day, ‘Murica!
